The article addresses a discussion carried out in the framework of class sessions with art students at the University of Sonora. Some taught to plastic arts students and others to music students. Marxist aesthetics is discussed from a conventional perspective, with the sole purpose of establishing a discursive exercise with undergraduate students. From the question What is meant by Marxist aesthetics?, distinctions such as the marxist versus the marxian are established and from there, a series of contrasts are established that lead us to realize the risks when facing the problem, or, that by starting from a preconception we are taking for granted the validity of one position against another, as well as its character of truth. The article concludes with a systemic vision of art that enables the construction of an alternative approach.
