Abstract

The rise of Artificial Intelligences (AIs) as an everyday tool promises a revolution in the fields where they are employed. Their accessibility through smartphones, in a world where a significant number of users can be considered cyborgs according to the posthumanist conceptualization of Haraway(1985), democratizes a highly capable tool to facilitate the work of numerous professionals. The purpose of this paper is a reflection on the use of AIs in humanistic research, from a transhumanist and posthumanist perspective, based on the idea of riskful thinking proposed by Gumbrecht (2016), concerning the direction that humanities should take. It is concluded that events, such as conferences or symposia, should be organized within the humanistic academy, where this community should focus on arguing and underpining the limits that AIs should have in their application in research.
